Spoonflower Handbook Blog Tour

A few weeks ago, Spoonflower released their brand-spanking new and exciting Handbook. Check it out here!

It’s essentially a hands-on, how-to of fabric design (also, wallpaper and gift wrap), which takes you step by step through the various way you can create beautiful custom surfaces. Not an Illustrator whizz or don’t own fancy editing software? No problem! There’s plenty…
for you too! In fact, what I love about this book is that it takes the rest of us through the processes of creating surface designs using hand drawn pictures, photographs, simple geometric designs and more. There are also tutorials for creating projects with your designs – my favorites are the necktie (hello, Father’s Day gift!!), The Doppelgänger Dog Pillow and my own Recipe Tea Towels. Excuse me while I toot my own horn for a second, but those tea towels are one of my most treasured things I’ve made. Read about them here. Or buy the Spoonflower Handbook!

I was honored to be asked to contribute in a small way, and you can read my recommendations for picking the right fabric for the right project. (Pages 34 and 35 – I’m in a book!!! Me!)
Spoonflower asked a few bloggers to create a project based on one in the handbook and today, as part of their blog tour, I’m sharing mine – Geometric Soiree Kitchen Chairs. Soiree chairs!?! Not sure what that means, but I like the sound of it.
The project shows you exactly how to go about creating your geometric design. I confess, I didn’t design mine. These are fabrics available in the Spoonflower marketplace designed by Holli Zollinger. The project then shows you how to cover the chairs. I made a quick little video to show you how easy they are to do. Watch it here.
Sometimes I feel that the time-lapse pace on my phone is my actual day-to-day pace as I rush through the day. Everyone else in my family is on regular video speed.

I’m pretty chuffed with my new Soiree Chairs. Let’s have a soiree!  If this project has interested you, I encourage you to go and visit Spoonflower and check out their handbook.
Thanks Spoonflower for inviting me to be a part of your lovely new Handbook and the blog tour.
