In fact, what I love about this book is that it takes the rest of us through the processes of creating surface designs using hand drawn pictures, photographs, simple geometric designs and more. There are also tutorials for creating projects with your designs – my favorites are the necktie (hello, Father’s Day gift!!), The Doppelgänger Dog Pillow and my own Recipe Tea Towels. I was honored to be asked to contribute in a small way, and you can read my recommendations for picking the right fabric for the right project. (Pages 34 and 35 – I’m in a book!!! Me!)
Spoonflower asked a few bloggers to create a project based on one in the handbook and today, as part of their blog tour, I’m sharing mine – Geometric Soiree Kitchen Chairs. Soiree chairs!?! Not sure what that means, but I like the sound of it.
The project shows you exactly how to go about creating your geometric design. I confess, I didn’t design mine. These are fabrics available in the Spoonflower marketplace designed by
Holli Zollinger. The project
then shows you how to cover the chairs. I made a quick little video to show you how easy they are to do.
